Surgery Scheduler/Biller

CSC Surgery Scheduler/Biller schedules all surgical procedures and assures that all the appropriate clinical and insurance coding information is collected. This position will schedule the procedure according to established guidelines and provide accurate information so that all departments may view daily and maintains open communication with CSC departments and physician offices regarding schedule changes. This position initiates the billing process by entering pertinent charges and patient information in the HST charging system. Multitasking abilities and attention to detail with little room for error is a must. This description incorporates full time, part time and PRN Surgery Scheduler/Biller roles. Schedules procedures using HST Case Management in appropriate rooms and/or assigned blocks. Effectively schedules procedure rooms for optimal utilization. Documents physician specific requests and maintains complete and accurate records. Completes post-op data entry in a timely and accurate manner. Initiates billing process of post-surgical charges in a timely manner and justifies charges daily. Corrects or modifies discrepancies in scheduling and/or billing. Uses and understands medical/surgical terminology and approved abbreviations. Maintains system integrity and confidentiality of data. Participates in systems upgrades, as needed. Cross trains to learn other responsibilities. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE and REGISTRATION: High school graduate or GED preferred. Associate degree in health administration or a secretarial program a plus, or applicable experience Current Valid Arkansas Driverxe2x80x99s license. EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: 2 years of physician/surgeon office, CARTI Surgery Center, or Hospital experience with procedure scheduling and/or billing with strong knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with medical diagnostic procedures is required. Competent in EMR systems preferred. Excellent computer and other basic office equipment skills. Extensive knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Skilled in time management and organization. Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, team members and the public. Attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation. Utilizes an effective and efficient process to meet the demands of the surgical schedule and needs of the patient. Cooperative work attitude toward co-employees, management, patients, visitors, and physicians Ability to promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients, insurance companies, and general public. Ability to make decisions and solve problems and seek assistance to ensure optimum quality and timely outcomes.
