Department Surgery Admin Job Summary Under general supervision, is responsible for the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP). Ensures all aspects of care for Emergency General Surgery (EGS) patient is abstracted and entered into the NSQIP registry from the electronic medical record (EMR) and submitted to NSQIP. Supports the EGS program by analyzing, report running, and research as needed as well as NSQIP data reports. Compiles and maintains statistical data aggregation information on EGS patient. Assists with compliance requirements to achieve and maintain an accredited EGS program set forth by the ACS to include the performance improvement process (PIPS). Assures accuracy and confidentiality in the handling of all NSQIP registry matters in compliance with professional ethics promoting positive personnel relationships with fellow employees, physicians, patients and visitors supporting Denver Health values of trust, respect, and excellence. Essential Functions: Case collection for operative and non-operative cases meeting the 11 EGS diagnoses utilizing the 8-day cycle process set forth by the ACS. (35%) Data abstraction to include safety measures, adverse events, clinical outcomes and 30-day post-op follow up after the original surgical intervention. This includes review of death certificates when applicable. (20%) Assists with identification of positive cases and cases for performance improvement. (15%) Supports preparation of annual reports, patient care evaluation reviews and call for data as required. Creates special reports as requested. (15%) Attends and assists with the EGS Committee conference once a month. (15%) Education: High School Diploma or GED Required Bachelor’s Degree Work Experience: 1-3 years Work experience with the medical field that includes data information. Required Licenses: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Medical terminology. Registry Experience. Possess good computer Skills. Ability to recognize, analyze and solve a variety of problems. Microsoft office products Ability to read and interpret clinical data from a medical record.
